The Studio

Al Sulaiman

We did not set out to photograph buildings. We set out to find the moments when architecture becomes something more than construction, and photograph those.

Al Sulaiman is a Melbourne-based studio producing architectural photography, cinematic spatial film, and visual identity work for the built environment. We take on a small number of commissions each year, working directly with architects, developers, interior designers, and hospitality groups who approach their own work with the same level of intention we bring to ours.

This is not a production house. There is no team of rotating photographers, no standard packages, no templated process. Each commission is led by the same eye, from brief to final image.

Three principles.

Patience

The best photograph of a space is rarely the first one taken. We wait for the light, the stillness, the moment when the room reveals itself on its own terms.

Proximity

We work closely with the people behind each project, understanding the intent before we raise the camera. The closer we are to the vision, the more faithfully we can translate it.

Restraint

We say no to commissions that are not the right fit. Not out of pride, out of responsibility to the work. Every image we produce carries the studio's name.
